Hey Guys!
My name is Jasmin I’man Johnson (25), also known as @Jasminthemystic, owner of Freakn Denim. I started my company in 2013 when I was 15 years old. My journey in fashion began in my hometown Louisville, Ky. I began obsessing over aesthetic and bold attire because I realized plus size women were not seen as fashionable and/or attractive. I started cutting up graphic t-shirts and distressing vintage denim jeans and jackets for myself. One day it caught someone’s attention and from then on I had consistent orders for about 3 years straight. I like to say I was “trappin clothes out my mothers home” lol.
In 2015, after graduating high school, I moved to Atlanta, Ga and took a hiatus from my company to focus on school. After 2 years in school, it didn’t work out as planned so I began focusing on my brand. Teaching myself new skills and interning for different designers, I started being able to actually sew and create clothing from scratch. And here we are today. I am so excited to share my brand, my baby with you all. Over the years, I have been inspired by The Bratz Dolls, Y2K (Year 2000), and exotic dancewear.
